Yoga, healing and personal growth
Retreats vary, but personal growth is always at the core. Guests come to recharge, unwind, get sun, eat healthy food and return home rested, inspired and with skills that support a better quality of life.
Kathy's Island Retreat
A nature-connected retreat home in Adia, Karpathos, created by Kathrine Brustad for yoga, healing, healthy food, rest and meaningful personal growth.
Our Story
Kathy's Island Retreat was founded by Kathrine Brustad from Oslo, Norway. In 2010 she moved to Karpathos with her family and began building a retreat place rooted in personal growth, healthy living, spiritual practice and simple island hospitality.
Founder
Kathrine lives on Karpathos with her three children. She is open-minded, spiritual and always learning more about herself and the nature of personal growth. Yoga, meditation and retreat hosting are part of her daily life, both on and off the mat.
She has a BSc in International Hospitality Management and has worked with hotels and hotel chains around Europe. Starting Kathy's Island Retreat brought that hospitality background together with her own path in yoga, healing and mindful living.
What We Do
We cater for holistic holidays and offer the right environment for teachers, healers, yogis and yoginis from around the world to share their teachings. While teachers focus on teaching, the retreat team makes sure the rooms, meals, practice spaces, atmosphere and island support are in place.
Practice
Retreats vary, but personal growth is always at the core. Guests come to recharge, unwind, get sun, eat healthy food and return home rested, inspired and with skills that support a better quality of life.
Stay
The rooms are recently renovated, bright and functional. Guests sleep to the sound of the waves and wake to the summer breeze with uninterrupted views of the Aegean Sea.
Food
Meals are vegetarian and vegan friendly, with gluten-free, milk-free and allergy-aware planning available on request. Breakfast includes fresh fruit, organic eggs, muesli, nuts, Greek yogurt and honey; lunch and dinner bring healthy Greek and Mediterranean dishes, often connected to the retreat garden.
Island
The retreat is located in Adia on the west coast of Karpathos, at the foot of the mountain and close to the Aegean Sea. Pine trees, Bougainvillea, coastal views, blue lagoons and cultural excursions give guests a genuine island experience.
Why We Do It
Our motivation is to live meaningful lives that have a positive and significant impact on others. The retreat serves guests at many levels: clean shelter, nourishing food, rest, healing, connection, inner peace and opportunities to meet excellent teachers from around the world.
The Team
Kathy's Island Retreat is supported by a motivated team including a chef, cleaning staff and an assistant manager. Together they keep the practical details calm, welcoming and well organised, so guests and teachers can focus on the retreat experience.
Depending on the retreat, guests may also experience sound healing, aromatherapy, Bach remedies, massage and bodywork under the pine trees, with the sea and sun creating a naturally restorative setting.
